In amongst the hectic last 3 weeks of xmas and turning a year older I managed to read some non arts related things (as a house full of relatives is not calm enough to read art words) I came across this quote:
"Humility is not thinking less of yourself, but think of yourself less" (CS Lewis)
It appeared in an article about The Survivor Gene - what makes us resilient and bounce back from disaster (North & South January 2014 issue). As an artist I often feel I am busy with myself and my own questions and pursuits. This quote made me realize that parts of my other life that I do (a variety of volunteer work) are vitally important to me as a person and as an artist. Anyway, better get back to something 'more seriously related' to my study and work a bit more on my artist statement.
